This comprehensive program encourages girls 11 to 18 to strive towards being healthy and feeling better about their bodies, which results in higher levels of self-esteem and confidence in their abilities.

Even though young girls today seem to have more opportunities, by age 11 many girls are less confident, happy and satisfied with their lives. And it's no wonder – girls are constantly given the message by media that they don't measure up. The resulting pressure and negative reinforcement they face during this critical period in their lives can derail their self-esteem and judgment and shake the foundation of their future.

The Mind+Body program begins by helping girls build communication skills; learn to recognize stress and practise responding to stress in healthy ways; and they analyze media messages and popular culture that equate a girls’ self-worth with her body image. Through fun and engaging, age-appropriate activities, girls are encouraged to eat healthy and participate in fun physical activity.  Girls’ body image, moods, attitudes, and energy levels improve. These results illustrate the importance of addressing girls’ whole health, and how physical and mental health are often interconnected.
